«Subsoil»

Images are projected from twelve LCD projectors onto a floor that has been painted white, resulting in a moving floor mosaic. If visitors step into the projection area their shadows disturb the images. When ‘Subsoil' was first presented, in the Foro Artistico of the Hanover ice-cream factory, the mosaic could also be viewed from a gallery. The images themselves consist of staged film sequences featuring the artists as actors and of re-cut found footage, both repeated in short loops. The individual picture squares seem to bump into each other visually and acoustically. Sounds recalling those made by grinding machines make both the room and its visitors seem to vibrate.
