«The Cynical Body»
Five people leaf through the notebooks of their deceased friend Roy, reconstructing their common past: the writer Carl; his roommate, the photographer Liza; the architect Jon, for whom Liza takes pictures; the draftsman Fred, with whom Carl played out situations found in his novel; and the tranlator Bela, who collects Freudian slips.
The essay, in feature-film length, deals with buildings, landscapes, and bodies as well as with love between bi-, hetero-, and homosexuals. It can be seen as a visual and staged history of culture and of film and was produced with the cooperation of many friends, including Wolfang Müller and Nikolaus Utermöhlen of 'Tödlichen Doris' (Deadly Doris).
