 Klaus, vom Bruch
«The Duracell tape»

The appropriation of foreign material – a characteristic feature of many of Klaus vom Bruch's tapes – now intensified in an extreme video collage. The commercial clip for a brand-name battery, associated with notions like discharge and charging, is interrupted by lightning-like images of the nuclear bomb catastrophe in Nagasaki, shots of an American pilot, and Klaus vom Bruch's self-portrait as recorded during an action at the 11th Biennale de Paris in 1980.
