Wassily Kandinsky
* 1899 in Moskau (USSR) - died 1944 in Neuilly –sur–Seine (F)
Kandinsky began his artist career in Munich, where he studied painting. At the beginning his pictures where influenced of the art nouveau and of the russian symbolism but soon showed clear tendencies of abstraction. Kandinsky was joint founder of the artist group >Der Blaue Reiter< and is one of the principal agents of abstract painting. At the outbreak of the Second World War he turned back tu Russia. From 1922 until 1933 he teached at the Bauhaus. He quitted Germany, his pictures were regarded as >entartete Kunst<. Kandinsky emigrated to France, there hie died in 1944.
