Anton von Werner
b 1843 in Frankfurt/Oder (D) – died 1915 in Berlin (D); 1859–1862 studies Painting at the Berlin Academy; 1862 continues his studies at the Academy in Karlsruhe; 1875 Director of the Berlin Academy and Member of the Prussian Art Commission; 1878 commissioner for the German Art Exhibition at the Paris World Fair, and in 1887 of the World Fair in Melbourne (AUS); 1887–1895, 1899–1901, 1906–07 chairman of the Association of Berlin Artists.
