Simon Penny
*1955 in Melbourne (AUS); lives and works in Irvine, CA (USA); 1979 graduated in sculpture, South Australian School of Art, and 1982 College of the Arts, Sydney; after his studies he turned to electronic and time-based media. His computer based installations have been exibited worldwide; 1984–88 Lehrauftrag, City Art Institute, Sydney; 1989 professor at the University of Florida and from 1993 to 2001 at Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh; he is currently Professor of Arts and Engineering at the University of California Irvine. He edited the anthology «Critical Issues in Electronic Media» (1995) and curated «Machine Culture» at Siggraph '93 in Anaheim, CA.
