The media workshop was founded in Freiburg in 1978 by people involved in the anti-nuclear power movement and the squatters scene to combine political and media work. It still produces and distributes politically engaged documentaries and videos. The media workshop founded the annual Freiburg festival Video-Forum to provide a critical platform for political and artistic documentary work. Active members included Didi Danquart, Bertram Rotermund, Wolfgang Stickel, and Ursula Hartenstein («Video-Forum»).
