b 1932 in Los Angeles (USA); 1950–52 studied at Pasadena City College (USA); 1952–53 University of California, Los Angeles (USA); 1955–59 studied painting, drawing and design, Chouinard Art Institute, Los Angeles (USA) (B.A.); 1963–66 studied art and art history at theUniversity of California, Los Angeles (USA) (M.A.); 1964 first assemby images and sculptural objects in wood and leather; from 1967 work with audio-kinetic sculptures, sound installations and machine-bodies; by the late 70s teaching at universities and art colleges in California (USA); 1980 moved to Hamburg; 1993–96 professor at the Staatliche Hochschule für Gestaltung in Karlsruhe; 2000 deceased unexpected in Hamburg.
