b 1957 in Bonn (D); 1984 co-founder of the Videonale Bonn; numerous projects, exhibitions and symposia in the field of media art; 1991–1993 head of the Mediatheque at the ZKM, Karlsruhe (D); since 1993 professor for Art History and Media Theory at the Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst (HGB) in Leipzig (D); publications on art of the twentieth-century a. o. on Fluxus, George Brecht, Marcel Duchamp; co-editor of «Media Art Action» and «Media Art Interaction» (with Rudolf Frieling); most recent book publications «Kunst als Sendung» (2002) and «Vom Ready-Made zum Cyberspace» (2003); since 2001 co-editor of «Media Art Net»; lives and works in Leipzig.
